Escapades has gone by many names, Trek Week, Leap of Framing, Photo Odyssey, Art Posse. After 6 years it has become a tradition. These are whole weeks set aside for venturing out and then returning. Time for kids behind cameras, exuberant cohorts, traveling and gathering images. There are new things to see, seen in a new way, people to meet, everything is extraordinary. We are on a mission about art in the studio and all around town.
This gallery focuses on our varied adventures. It is also about what happens to the group, as they share adventures and become cohesive. It is an intensive social millieu, an inclusive community of young artists. You can see what happens when inspiration is brought back to the studio.
Each one of the weeks of Escapades has been very different, depending on the season, the crowd of kids and the itinerary. Aside from traveling, there is always photography and then artwork back at abovoagogo. My goal is to use the cameras to teach composition and observation. These skills apply across the board in art.
If we step into an antique shop, it is to fill the frame with jewels and textures. At the synchotron the lines and shapes of conduits and machinery become the topic. Kids Behind Cameras is a separate gallery exclusively for the children's photographs.
