Not everyone learns how to sew. Many adults can't do it. They would be able to sew if someone had showed them how, but nobody ever did. Andrea taught sewing in her workshop. She caught children's interest with an invitation to make their own sweet mouse and she set them in motion to sew. Its an essential skill in life.
Its like magic: The group could be a wild and rambunctious lot at times. We would come into this workshop from two hours of lunch play and swim. The boys had been with me since the morning. It was delightful to see everyone's transformation as they settled into their practice of sewing. It was a shift from a social dynamic to an internal focus. This too is a useful life skill. Thank you Andrea for all of your good teaching!
